Privacy

RunDMG sends nothing about the disk images you install. This page lists what the app and this website do send.

What RunDMG sends

RunDMG makes two kinds of network requests, and nothing else.

  • An update check, about once a day. RunDMG fetches a public list of versions from apps.bloomworks.org, which Bloomworks, Inc. runs. It sends an anonymous install ID, the app version and build, the build channel (release or development), and whether RunDMG is on the trial, licensed or unlicensed. The install ID is a random UUID that RunDMG makes the first time it launches. It isn't derived from your Mac or from you, and it isn't linked to your name, email or license key. We use these checks only to count how many Macs run RunDMG, per day, version and country. No IP addresses are stored.
  • A license check, with Polar. When you activate a license key, and quietly about once a day after that, RunDMG sends your key straight to Polar's API, with no server of ours in between. Activating also sends your Mac's name, which Polar shows as the label for that Mac. Polar uses them to count your Macs and confirm the license is valid.

What RunDMG never sends

  • Nothing about the disk images it installs: not their names, not their contents and not the apps inside them.
  • It has no third-party analytics and no crash-reporting service.

Turning the update check off

In RunDMG's Settings, turn off Check for updates automatically and the update checks stop. If you choose Check for Updates in the RunDMG menu yourself, that check sends the same information. The license check runs only once you've entered a key.

This website

  • It sets no cookies and runs no analytics.
  • Clicking Download is counted per day and per country. The country comes from Cloudflare's lookup of the request. No IP address is stored.
  • Buy and License help take you to Polar's checkout and customer portal, on polar.sh.

Payments

Polar is the merchant of record. It takes your payment and handles your billing details, and its privacy policy applies to what you give it. RunDMG and Bloomworks, Inc. never see your card. Polar's customer portal shows your orders, your key and the Macs using it.
